  1. Well, it sounds like you and the kids had fun with this recipe, Nee. {giggling} Sorry, fruitcake just doesn't do it for me. I'm one of those people who would get more of a kick out of "tossing the fruitcake" on National Toss the Fruitcake Day" than I would out of National Fruitcake Day which is December 27th, lol...

However, it sure looks fruity and for those who enjoy fruitcake, I'm thinking they will like the ease of "throwing" it together:)

    Thanks for sharing, Nee...

    1. Hi Louise ,
You sound like hubby , he says he will take his with nuts only (giggling) . We had fun , especially Baby Boy , he likes the do-overs . I bet hubby would enjoy joining you on "tossing the fruitcake" /
I have to finish your e-mail with the new gif , I am feeling good , just so much to catch up with ... I fell behind with that dang flu , I should be back in full force after the holidays .
      Thanks for stopping by .

PS: Watch your e-mail , Marion will gey a kick out of it . Nee :)

  2. Good afternoon Nee,
What a beautiful Fruitcake! I am like a lot of people out there that DO NOT LIKE Fruitcake, even though it looks lovely. My sister-in-law's boyfriend loves Fruitcake and that is what I gave him last year from Swiss Colony. I am printing your recipe because next year I think I will make him one using your recipe. He has a sweet tooth and just goes nuts over Fruitcake. Seems he waits all year just to eat this. Your recipe is very different and easy, I love the idea of using the cake mix and the Dream Whip. Have not used Dream Whip in a long time! Thank you for sharing, Hope that you are feeling good, I finally am getting my strength back...a little at a time...Enjoy the rest of the week dear friend...
    Dottie :)

    1. Good afternoon Dottie ,
Mostly all fruitcakes is heavy and too sweet , this one is more like a nut cake with added fruit . I agree , not many people love fruit cake , especially the store brought ones .
I find using Dream Whip makes your cakes taste homemade and more light to the taste than pudding mix or mayo .
I am happy to hear you are feeling much better and getting your strength back . I am doing well ... but so far behind , almost caught up with everything .... what a relief .
You try the rest of your week also and your health continue to improve my friend .
      ~~Nee~~ ;-D

  3. Oh, my! Now I have to add this to my list of things to do! Son-in-law dearly loves fruit cake! I've not seen any candied fruits featured where I've been shopping this season - and I go to at least three stores weekly! Love this! Thanks for sharing it!

    1. Hi Nellie , your Son-in-law will love this cake .
Not many stores carry the candied fruits anymore or they are sold out ... ask your store manager where you can buy them , I found that very helpful . Ask at all three ... they can also be ordered from the web . Thanks for stopping by :)

  4. Dear Nee, I think we could all use a little help right now with a short cut or two. Using the cake mix helps so much when there is a crunch for time. Is is me or did these holidays arrive sooooo quickly!?
    This looks wonderful.
I hope you are feeling good. I have had a cough and cold and it just seems to linger and really slow you down so much.
    xo Catherine

    1. Hi Catherine , I got far behind when I was out with the flu . It seems like the holidays are coming faster and faster each year .
I am feeling much better and hope you shake that cough soon . Have you tried honey and lemon , mix a teaspoon of both and swallowed . I do so hope that cough go away and thanks for stopping by . ~~Nee~~ :)

  5. Wow, what a nice quickie fruitcake! What a fun idea -- I like this. So nice you have all that kitchen help! Fun post -- thanks. And I hope you have a wonderful holiday season!

    1. Hi John , was out almost three weeks and the Christmas FC was still wrapped and getting drunk , I needed a quick one for drop in company .
Have a wonderful Holiday season to you and Mrs. KR thanks for stopping by :)

  6. I have never heard of dream whip before. I'm guessing it's like cool whip?? I must say, Nee it does sound like a rich and delicious cake. There is nothing I love more than a boozy cake. That's the best way to serve a drink ;)

    1. Hi Tammy , Dream Whip is with the Jello and it's like Dream Whip , only a power . You must try it some time . Thanks for stopping By :)

  7. I am glad that you all had fun making this cake...I have never made or tasted fruit cake therefore do not understand why so many people dislike this cake...they look pretty to me ;-)
Hope you are having a fabulous week Nee!

    1. Hi Juliana , some fruit cakes are heavy especially the ones you buy and some or dry . Homemade is the best ... the kids and I decided to try it with a cake mix . Thanks for stopping by :)

  8. that's clever for a fast fruit cake! i really dont mind if it's fast or a little slower, just happy that it;s all homemade! happy sunday to you!

    1. Hi Lena ,
In a hurry and time is short , let's do this cake . Thanks for stopping by :)

  9. Nee, I baked this cake in three loaf pans! I wasn't sure about that 3 1/2 oz. of vanilla extract, though. That is a lot of vanilla - an entire bottle for some brands. Do you actually add that much vanilla? Anyway, the cake was well-received by our son-in-law. Had no trouble finding the fruit, though it is a bit expensive to make this cake! Oh! My loaf pans are not 9x5 but the smaller size of 8x4 1/2. Will plan this again. Hoping to buy some more fruit before it is all gone. Never can find it when it is time to bake Panettone or Twelfth Night cake.

Hi friends, thank you for stopping by and for taking the time to say hello. The welcome mat is always out and the coffee is always hot .I really appreciate your sweet gesture!
