Clone Crispy Crunchy KFC Chicken

Watch out, Colonel, because this KFC Inspired Fried Chicken is just is good as your crispy chicken recipe (at least, I think so). Made with not-so-secret herbs and seasonings, this fried chicken recipe will leave you coming back for more...and enjoying bite after bite. It may not be the original KFC fried chicken, but it sure is tasty. And it's something you can make on your own. If you want to have some more fun, buy a bucket of KFC chicken and have your family do a taste test.

1           teaspoon salt
1/2        teaspoon black pepper
2           pounds of chicken (legs, thighs, breast - whatever preferred)
1/2        teaspoon garlic salt
1/2        teaspoon chili powder, or to taste
1/2        teaspoon ground sage
1/2        tablespoon onion salt
1/2        tablespoon onion powder
1/2        teaspoon dry mustard
1/2        teaspoon basil, oregano, thyme, each
1/2        teaspoon all spice
2           cups flour
3           eggs
1           cup or 2 cups of buttermilk
3/4        cup cornstarch
1/2        teaspoon marjoram
1/2        tablespoon paprika

1 .    Mix all spice ingredients together with the flour and cornstarch, set aside in large bowl. Beat eggs into buttermilk in separate bowl.
2 .     Place chicken pieces in an egg mixture just long enough to get saturated (add more water if necessary). Drain, then coat each piece in the flour mixture.
3 .    Deep fry in hot oil until golden brown. Finish off the chicken by baking it for about 1 hour, or until juices run clear.

    1. Good morning dear Dottie ,
I understand about busy my dear . Family love chicken , you can also bake it if you don't want it fried .There are so many ways to eat chicken . Down here we eat lots of vegetables to balance the starchy and greasy foods . Rice , potatoes , pasta and beans , I have to balance them out because of cholesterol , start them young and it will take affect .
It took me about 3 months to get the taste I wanted . Thanks for stopping by :)

  8. Hi Nee, wow, I will definitely opt for Nee's Fried Chicken instead of KFC cos I know whatever ingredients she used for this fried chicken, I am very confident and have no doubt of its freshness! Frankly speaking, I hardly eat KFC and the last time I had it was 3 years ago. The most will be once a year cos I don't fancy commercial fast food. With your recipe, we can always have it anytime at home and adjust to our taste buds. Yours look so tempting and finger licking good! Slurrp......Thanks so much for sharing, Nee and warmest regards :)

    1. Hi Zoe , remember you can bake it also . Like you , I buy fast foods very seldom , I do like the freshness and to be able to adjust it to my family's taste . Not even is Mickey D. the same anymore . As my the saying goes , why buy fast food , it's only second choice . Thanks for stopping by :)

    1. Hi Louise ,
No I didn't know about the Colonel's birthday , Family always love KFC , a few years after the "Colonel' died , it seems like the chicken didn't taste the same . And Nee's clone chicken was born (giggling)

I had lots of help eating my mistakes so there was no waste .
You can also bake the chicken in the oven , Tried it both ways , the baked chicken taste like the 'Original' .
Thank you for stopping by . :)

      Pinned it !!!
